The Catalog
This catalog site is designed so that it can be searched by keyword, collection, type of instrument, and date. It contains information on instruments in the possession of Duke University, with the exception of modern practice and performance pianos.
The information used for the instruments in the Eddy Collection is largely based on a printed catalog written by Edwin M. Good and G. Norman Eddy, and revised and edited by Richard W. Abel. All of the measurements of the Eddy instruments are the results of the excellent work by the original authors and editor. The text for the Eddy instruments has been edited and abridged by the curator of DUMIC, Dr. Brenda Neece. The text for the other entries was written by Dr. Neece.
While the curator has made every attempt to be accurate, she requests that users please keep in mind that, with very few exceptions, it is impossible for any one person to be an expert on all musical instruments. Expert advice and/or corrections as well as questions and comments on the catalog are welcomed by the curator at bneece@duke.edu.
The actual web design for the site is the result of the work of web designer and Duke University alumnus, David Wehrs (dww5@duke.edu).
